Canon recently announced two new cameras in the EOS Rebel line - the Canon T3 and the Canon T3i.
How do these new DSLR cameras stack up against previous Rebel models?
Let's find out.
Main Differences
The T3i has an articulating LCD like the Canon 60D that allows you to pull the LCD out and rotate it.
The T3i is slight smaller and slightly lighter than the T2i but not by a significant difference for most photographers.
What's the Same?
Just about everything else is the same between the T2i and the T3i. Both have an 18.7 megapixel, CMOS sensor. Both have an ISO range of 100-6400. Both SLRs have a 1/4000 sec shutter speed limit and a 63 zone metering sensor with 9 autofocus points. And both cameras have 9 autofocus (AF) points.
Bottom Line
Unless you need the articulating LCD, I would recommend you save the money and go for the Canon Rebel EOS T2i. If you are shooting from some awkward angles, an articulating LCD can be very helpful, and you should pickup the Canon EOS Rebel T3i.
However, if you already have lenses, you may just want to pickup the Canon EOS 60D which has a slightly faster shutter speed (1/8000 of a second instead of 1/4000 of a second on the T3i) and a faster maximum continuous shooting speed (5.3 frames per second (FPS) versus 3.7 FPS on the T3i)
